What is database?

A database is a collection of related data.

A DBMS is a collection of programs that enable users to create and maintain a database. The DBMS is a general purpose software system that facilitates the processes of defining, constructing,manipulating and sharing databases among various users and applications.

Applications of database management system:-

we use this in our day to day life

4. Manufacturing and selling

5.Human resources

 

Components of DBMS:

A DBMS constitutes of five components that help in the use and management of data in an organization.

These are:

(i) Data,

(ii) Hardware,

(iii) Software

(iv) User and

(v) Procedure.

Differentiate between DBMS and file processing system ?

Difference between File processing system and DBMS: is written below:-

 

A database management system is designed to coordinate multiple users accessing the same data at the same time.

 

A file-processing system is usually designed to allow one or more programs to access different data files at the same time.
